The fact is that these animals have instinctive protective abilities. This means they are likely to attack someone whom they perceive to be a threat.

The article is based on the pooch’s potential to cause serious harm merely because of its large size or the strength with which it can bite.

1.     Pit Bull

Pit bulls rank at the top of the list when it comes to dogs that can harm humans. They are incredibly strong and they are also highly energetic which makes it hard for their target to outrun them. Pit bulls are quite notorious for causing a large number of deaths all around the world even though they are playful. In the USA alone, this dog breed has killed around 300 people over a period of 13 years. That makes about 66% of the total fatal dog attacks in the country!

2.     Perro de Presa Canario

The fact that this breed is used in dog fights around the world is enough proof of why it’s better to not bring one into your home. Perro de Presa Canario, also known as Canarian Catch Dog, is a mastiff breed from the Canary Islands. It is mostly used as a farm dog. This is because its dominant nature makes it ideal for guarding land and livestock. With a track of 111 attacks on humans including children, this breed ranked fourth in the report on the most dangerous dog breeds published in 2014. Perro de Presa Canario is among the outlawed species in countries that have bans on certain breeds.

3.     Rottweiler

Although Rottweilers are considered to be one of the most intelligent dog breeds, they are equally famous for their hostile nature. People prefer to keep them as guard dogs because of  their fearsome reputation. However, Rottweilers are often frowned upon as house pets because of the number of deaths and injuries  they cause each year. Rottweilers only account for 1.7% of the total dog population; however they are responsible for 15% of all fatal dog attacks. There have been various incidents where Rottweilers have mauled children and attacked their owners for no apparent reason.

Owning a dog is indeed a joyful experience but if you don’t want it to turn dreadful —or deadly— then it’s best to steer clear of these 3 dog breeds that you might not want to keep as pets
