A senior stray dog might have lost his nose after a violent attack, but his unfortunate condition won over pet lovers around. The dog named Sniffles was living all alone on the streets, where several other stray dogs brutally attacked him. He received several wounds and injuries, the most severe of which is the loss of his nose.

An organization, known as the Happy Trails (Rabito Kontento), originally picked the poor dog. A family in Florida brought him home, but he has managed to escape from them after some time. Sniffles is now under the custody of Poodle and Pooch Rescue, an adoption agency based in Florida.

Overwhelming adoption inquiries

According to Rebecca Lynch, the agency’s president, they received multiple adoption inquiries and applications since the dog made the news. These are made through social media, voice, and emails and came from various states in the U.S.

Lynch, however, cautioned that the dog needs special care from the next owner. The adopter, she said, needs to commit himself or herself to clean the nasal passage of Sniffles twice daily. He or she also needs to give the senior dog eye drops every day as a remedy to dry eyes.

Lynch nonetheless said that despite the odds, Sniffles remains cheerful and adorable. She described him as a ‘resilient’ dog who loves to snuggle and wag his tail. The injury also caused him to make little snorting noises. “Despite his past, and after some initial timid nature and confusion, Sniffles has started to come out of his shell,” said Lynch.

Lynch added that Sniffles has no behavioral issues and does well with other pet animals. Poodle and Pooch Rescue requested on its website that people wishing to adopt Sniffles may extend their hands to help other rescue dogs under their care.
